Revil 3DS Max plugin

RevilMax is a native plugin for 3ds Max 2010 – 2021.
Currently plugin supports loading animations(.mot.43, .mot.65, .mot.78) and motion lists(.motlist.60, .motlist.85, .motlist.99) from RE Engine and LMT, TML from MT Framework.

Installation

Move corresponding .dlu located in correct version folder into %3ds max installation directory%/plugins. Versions must match!

Usage

Importing is from 3ds Max main menu.

Appendix

Configuration file is saved in app’s default save location for saving/loading such files. Filename is RevilMaxSettings.xml (.ini for < V1.6).
If you don’t know where this folder is, type this command into listener: GetDir #plugcfg

As of version 1.6 config format is now in XML. All settings are non-essential so they are not converted from the old INI format. You can freely delete INI file if you wish so.

Maxscript listener is used as output logger, it will output every information sent from plugin.

  1. I must be dumb or something because I can seem to get any animation from Leon working. I used two different max version (17&18) and two different import model scripts.
Got the Leon model correctly loaded, then I go to import, go to animations folder, player000 folder and select any from the ‘cmn’ folder just to get a fatal error that will close the entire program :S (Maybe it’s because they’re mot85? but they still are listed when filtering with just your plugin)

      1. Also it seems I must be using a wrong scipt to import the models into 3ds max, because I tried with Mr.X (I assumed this has to work because of your gif on xentax) but when I import the animations for him, the entire mesh overlaps in a mass of vertices that moves but nothing to do with what it should be xD. Can you tell me which script did you use to import the models?
I tried with xentax’s zaramot as well as with the maliwei777’s one.

      2. I go the problem, and it was just a matter of scales when importing the animation xD (yeah I didn’t notice that option in the import window).
So yeah I tried a few enemies animations and they’re working cool. Tried Claire’s and it’s also working. But Leon’s are the one that keeps crashing 3ds.

  2. Heya, would you ever consider making a version of this tool that exports the animations back to the game?
As a model modder with some experience with animation stuff, but very little coding experience I’d be very interested in a tool with functionality like that.

I’d even be willing to commission you for a tool that can do that, if you’d ever consider working on that.

  3. Hi there,

ES Sequencer with RevilMax always returns with “Sequencer not found, dumping animation ranges” even when the sequencer is in the scene – any ideas on how to get it working?

    Thanks

  4. I’m sorry I’m really stupid, I’ve done it, and the version is correct, but nothing happens, does a new panel pop up? Or what file do I import from where? Or maybe I just don’t get it.
“USAGE Importing is from 3ds Max main menu.” ?

  5. Hi Lukas,

Could you kindly help me, I am using 3Ds Max 2014 and imported Jill from REHD and then used the import and selected the first LMT file and nothing happens, just says bones are missing.

    Many thanks

    1. Plugin will always select range for the last animation. If you want to see all animations, you’ll need to set start time to 0 for the timeline.
Plugin also dumps start and end values per animation into listener, just keep in mind, that values are in ticks instead of frames. So you will need to convert them to frames, if you want to use them.

  6. is there a way to export animations to other softwares? (particulary Blender).
I succesfully imported animations through MT Framework plug-in, since I can only import half of it (top or bottom animations) of Resident Evil 6.
I’ve tried exporting the scene as an FBX file, however, i keep getting getting erros such as Skipping anibone[252] since its not enabled in current skeleton.
    Cannot find LMT bone: Bone252
    Please, help me 😦

  7. Hi. i’ve successfully imported RE2 remake animations using this awesome plugin, but I have no experience in using 3ds max yet. Could you please help me with how to apply these animations to the character meshes? When I import the animation all I can see is a stick that resembles human skeleton animating, and I have no idea how to apply these animations to the RE2 character meshes I’ve separately imported from noesis. Thanks!

  8. Hi! I’ve been trying to use your plugin to open .lmt files from Monster Hunter Generations (Not XX or Generations Ultimate). MT Framework freezes indefinitely when i try to load a .mod file, and RevilMax crashes with a generic error message when I try to load a .lmt file. I tried both in 2017 Max and 2020 Max, both had the same result.

Am I doing something wrong, or does Generations handle things differently than both 4U and XX?
